Kašjuni Beach: Pine Cliffs & Clear Water Guide

Kašjuni is the beach locals pick when Bačvice is too busy: small pebbles, clear water and pines on the slope behind, on the south side of Marjan. This page covers what it is like, who it suits, how to get there and how to make a day of it with Marjan and the Meštrović Gallery.

While figuring out your Kašjuni beach day is a critical piece of the puzzle, you will need to plan the rest of your itinerary, dining slots and sightseeing routes. Before you set out, make sure to read our definitive Split travel guide to map out your entire stay.

What Kašjuni is like

A pebble bay below the Marjan pines, with clear water and the hill behind it. There is a café, changing cabins and loungers to rent, and it is quieter than the city beaches. Along the shore path either side you will find smaller rocky platforms where locals swim.

Who it suits

  • Swimmers: the water gets deeper further out, good for a proper swim.
  • Older children: better than toddlers; bring water shoes for the pebbles.
  • A quieter day: calmer than Bačvice, with pines behind the beach.
  • Less ideal: if you want sand and shallows, go to Bačvice or Firule.

Getting there and making a day of it

  • From Marjan: walk up from Varoš to Vidilica, on through the pines to Telegrin, then down to Kašjuni. See our Marjan hill guide.
  • Along the coast: follow the coast road west past Meje and the Meštrović Gallery.
  • On the way back: stop at the Meštrović Gallery and Kaštilac (closed on Mondays).

What to plan next for your trip

Once you have sorted out your Kašjuni beach day, it's time to explore the rest of Dalmatia - Split. Walk there over the hill with our guide to Marjan hill. For art on the way back, read our Meštrović Gallery guide.
