Split Airport Transfers: Direct Shuttles, Taxis & Bus 37

Split Airport (SPU) is in Kaštela, about 25 km west of the city. This page explains each way into town, the airport shuttle, city buses 37 and 38, taxis and ride-hailing apps, where each one drops you, and what to know about parking if you rent a car.

While figuring out your airport transfer is a critical piece of the puzzle, you will need to plan the rest of your itinerary, dining slots and sightseeing routes. Before you set out, make sure to read our definitive Split travel guide to map out your entire stay.

The airport shuttle bus

The airport shuttle meets flights and runs to the main bus station by the ferry port, at the edge of the old town. That makes it the simplest choice if you are staying in or near the old town or going straight to a ferry.

Check the Split Airport website before you fly: it names the current operator and sells tickets. Some travel sites report a change of operator in 2026, so trust the airport's own page over older blog posts.

Bus 37 and bus 38: what's the difference

Both are ordinary city buses run by Promet Split, cheaper and slower than the shuttle. Neither goes to the port.

  • Bus 37: the Trogir - Airport - Split line. Ride it the other way and it is also the cheap bus from the airport to Trogir.
  • Bus 38: runs from the airport through Kaštela Stari to Split.
  • Where they end: Sukoišan bus station, north-east of the centre, not the main bus station by the port. Allow extra time to reach the old town or a ferry from there.
  • Tickets: buy them in the Promet Split app, from the driver or at Tisak kiosks.
  • Timetables: see Promet Split's timetables for this season's times.

Taxis, Uber and Bolt

A taxi from the airport to the centre takes about 30 minutes without traffic. Uber and Bolt also work in Split. It is the easiest option with heavy luggage, a group or a late flight, and the only one that drops you at your door.

Parking in Split: zones and the Split Parking app

If you rent a car at the airport, know that the old town is pedestrian. Street parking around it is run by the city company Split Parking and split into paid zones. The zones nearest the palace are the dearest and have time limits in summer.

  • How to pay: with the free Split Parking app, by SMS, at the meter or at a kiosk. Check the zone on the sign by your space.
  • Prices: see Split Parking's price list; they are higher in summer.
  • Where to leave the car: if your stay has no parking, use a garage or lot outside the centre and walk in.
  • Before you come: ask your host about parking. Žnjan and Meje are the easiest areas; see where to stay in Split.
  • In town: don't plan to drive. Everything in the centre is within 15 minutes on foot.

Checked in October 2026. We could not confirm this year's prices for the airport shuttle, the city buses or street parking on an official page with a current date, so we leave them out rather than guess.

Before you land in Split

  • Check the shuttle: confirm the operator and times on the Split Airport website, or plan on bus 37 or 38 or a taxi.
  • Carry some euros: cards work in most places, but cash helps for parking meters, markets and small grills.
  • Get the app: download the Promet Split app for city bus tickets.
  • Ferry the same day? Buy the ticket online in July and August, and take the shuttle, which ends by the port.
